School Holiday : All Schools will remain Closed on Monday 8 September, Know why the Government has Announced Holiday.

School Holiday : The festive season has begun, and with it, school children are set to enjoy several holidays this September. Nearly half of the month will be filled with holidays in schools. On Monday, 8th September, a holiday has been officially declared for schools. Let’s find out why the government has announced holidays in schools and colleges.

School Holiday on 8th September (Monday)

The Maharashtra government, on Thursday, made changes to the public holiday date for Eid-e-Milad in Mumbai city and its suburbs. Initially, the holiday was scheduled for Friday, 5th September, but it has now been shifted to Monday, 8th September.

Why Was the Holiday Date Changed?

Representatives of the Muslim community suggested that the Eid-e-Milad procession should be held on Monday, 8th September. The reason for this change is that Saturday, 6th September, marks the final day of the Ganesh Utsav (Anant Chaturdashi), when a large number of Ganpati immersions take place.

Having both major festivals around the same time could have affected arrangements and security. To avoid clashes and ensure smooth celebrations, the government accepted the community’s suggestion and moved the holiday date.

Holiday Date Changed Only for Mumbai and Suburbs

According to the circular issued by the General Administration Department, the new holiday date will be applicable only in Mumbai city and its suburban areas. In the rest of the state, the holiday will remain on Friday, 5th September as declared earlier.

Impact on Schools, Colleges, and Offices

In Mumbai and suburban districts, all government offices and educational institutions will remain open on Friday, 5th September as usual. Schools—both government and private—will also remain open on Friday. Instead, a holiday will be observed on Monday, 8th September.

This change will help the administration in managing security, crowd control, and festival arrangements effectively. As a result, both Ganesh Visarjan and Eid-e-Milad will be celebrated peacefully and in an organized manner.
